Marc Mendoza
Marc Mendoza began his Filipino Martial Arts journey in 2012 under Grandmaster Gilbert Cordoncillo, where he built his foundation in a blend of Serrada, Largo Mano, and Decuerdas, systems deeply influenced by the renowned Eskrima lineage of Stockton, California. This early training shaped his understanding of range, timing, and structure within the Filipino martial arts.
In 2013, through longtime friend and mentor Master Jojo Ygay, Marc was introduced to Tabimina Balintawak. The system’s emphasis on close-quarter combat, precision striking, and refined defensive responses resonated with him. For a period, he trained in both systems, deepening his overall understanding of Eskrima, before ultimately committing fully to Tabimina Balintawak in 2014.
Under Master Jojo Ygay’s guidance, Marc earned his Certified Feeder 1 and Certified Feeder 2 certifications, milestones that reflect not only technical competency but the trust placed in him to help develop others within the system.
Since dedicating himself to Tabimina Balintawak, Marc has continued his path as both practitioner and instructor. He has cultivated students of his own, sharing the art with the same respect and discipline instilled in him by his teachers. His journey represents loyalty to lineage, commitment to growth, and passion for preserving Filipino martial arts for future generations.
