About
We are a non profit organization dedicated in preserving the art of Balintawak in it's entirety, globally, through our healing and warrior program.
The Lineage
Zero Mind Group follows the original teaching of Great Grandmaster Bobby Tabimina in a structured manner. Master Jojo Ygay trained closely under Sir Bob and continues to carry the teachings forward, alongside Sir Bob's sons preserving the art of Great Grandmaster Venancio "Anciong" Bacon.
Dalan, the Way
Master Jojo Ygay created the curriculum-based teachings of Tabimina Balintawak. The word “curriculum” has a stigma among Tabimina Balintawak practitioners because most came from curriculum-based backgrounds. What is unique in Tabimina Balintawak teaching is adherence to the four key principles: random, real time, on target, under stress. Because of this, each training session is unique and individualized. For this reason, some Tabimina Balintawak practitioners abhor the use of the word “curriculum.” Instead of “curriculum,” Zero Mind Group will call them Dalan, a Visayan term for “the Way.”
Each Master and Grandmaster has their own agenda in teaching the art. These agendas are imparted to students so they can pass them to future students. The problem arises when a student does not know which agenda corresponds to the correct level; an agenda integrated into the wrong level can mislead a student. Dalan was created for this purpose. Instead of wondering which agendas to teach, the agendas were already written to avoid those problems; you just need to understand and execute them. Each agenda is for the right skill level, for the right student, at the right time and reason.
What We Preserve
Zero Mind Group will train with Dalan while adhering to the four key principles of Tabimina Balintawak. The challenge in preserving the art is that human nature tends to gravitate toward the technical and logical; this is why most martial arts focus more on techniques while the core fundamentals of the art are missing. If you feel lost, ask yourself whether you are still abiding by the four key principles, and that should illuminate your way. There are billions of people in the world, and this art is so precious that only a handful will receive and understand it in its entirety. Zero Mind Group’s mission is to spread, preserve, and most importantly perform the art in its entirety, globally. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. To preserve the art, can you truly duplicate yourself? In Sir Bob’s famous words: “Imitate me as I imitated Anciong, but understand me as I understood Anciong.”
